Target Toy Sale and Giveaway

Did you see all the excitement last night on Twitter about the #targettoysale? As I’ve mentioned recently, Target has a very special place in my heart and with good reason! I was recently contacted to work with Target, along with many other bloggers. Can I just say, of course they had me at hello! Target was lovely enough to send some gift cards our way to spend at the VIP toy sale. I took my lovely assistant, Missy 11. She looks like an eskimo because it’s been -4 degrees here today.

Not bringing my younger two kids was probably my best strategy, as I was able to concentrate a lot better without the dreaded, ‘can I haves?’. Although later on, my partner and the two little ones joined in the last hour or so. As you can see, I made attempts to tweet the event. True to form, Missy 11 informed me of my mispelling of Target (IT WAS A TYPO, FFS! I mean, thankĀ  you). It wasn’t until I got home that I realised I used an @ instead of a hashtag. Doh! A mistake I repeated several more times on the night. We’ve discussed my mobile phone usage before, haven’t we? Ahem..

Heey, #winner, where’s your bloody hashtag? Argh!! Now, because I don’t use my phone a great deal, my phone was still set to wi-fi and I doddered around with my phone like an idiot for a while, wondering why it wouldn’t tweet. #Pathetictwitteruser. My man fixed it for me an hour or so later, so I ran around at the last minute doing the twitter scavenger hunt. It was fun.

I was very happy with the bargains I found, and was blown away by how many customers turned up! My partner and I obviously have no idea how big these sales are. We thought, stupidly, that being at Country Target at Cootamundra, there’d be hardly anyone there. Wrong!

But those who were on the whiffy side got the last laugh as I fucked up my hashtag AGAIN. Are you keeping count of how many times I’ve done this? Me either.

Missy 11 and I spent quite a bit of time in the lines waiting to spirit our toys to the car. We stood behind one really nice lady. She smelt divine, eg she’d had a shower and probably some deodorant. I was pleased. We had some friendly chit-chat to pass the time.

Here are some tweets I managed to not bollocks up. I look demonic in them. I am not. Just a frazzled mum out shopping with the kids.

I bet you’re wondering what we bought? This is the haul of a family of three kids and a mum who won a tanty about no-one in this house liking dolls despite there being soo many cute ones around:

It was night-time at home when I took this photo, and the cat missed us. Everyone was pleased with our purchases. Then we played mean parents, and let them play with a few toys for a second or two before whisking the kids off to bed. It’ll give them something to look forward to tomorrow, surely?

Big thanks to Target for involving me in this great night, despite my stupidity. Also to my man for taking the two smallest kids for a feed during the busiest part of the sale, then later getting something for Missy 11 and I to eat.

But, guys… I know it isn’t a whole lot of fun to read a blog post about someone getting free stuff, shopping and so on. Flaunting it so blatantly under your noses as you miss out on the fun. Ha! So you think. One of you will get in on the action, I promise. Over on my facebook page, I’m giving away a $50 Target gift card. It will be drawn in a week’s time and the Target Toy Sale runs for three. All you need to do if you want to win, is to ‘like’ the page then fill in the entry form.

Have you been to the sale yet? Do you plan on going, and what do you want to get?

Disclaimer: it’s come to my attention that there is a facebook scam running at the moment with regards to an app or event offering a $250 Target gift card or something like that? I just wanted to reassure you that my giveaway is legit and approved by Target. For more info, here is a post about it directly on the Target facebook page.

Awesome, I am off to enter now. I must admit I’ve never been brave enough to do the first day (or night) of the toy sale, crowds are not my thing anymore, but I will certainly check it out. My Miss 6 has a hankering for some roller skates …

I won’t be going to the sale, we have enough toys for 3 kids with only one but there are so many things I’d love…. perhaps wii or DS games for me

It sounds like you had a lot of fun shopping and it looks like you got a lot of great stuff! I cannot remember the last time I went to shop for toys. I can’t wait until I have kids and have an excuse to play with the toys without getting a weird look from the parents shopping with their children. Either way, this sounds like a great giveaway and I wish everyone who enters good luck!
